If you’re traveling in a larger RV like our Alliance Valor 42V13, we highly recommend the Creek View section, particularly sites 72-83. These offer the best accessibility and views for big rigs. One important tip: many sites throughout the park are tree-covered with trees lining both sides, so review the website pictures carefully before booking.

For those with larger rigs, we suggest avoiding sites 60-70 as they have a significant slope upon entry that could make leveling a challenge. Smaller RVs should have no problem with these sites.

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of White Oak Creek Campground is the price. At just $26 per night for standard rates (and half that price for seniors over 62 or military personnel), you’re getting waterfront views that would cost $80-100 at private resorts.

Whether you’re a serious angler or just enjoy watching boats go by, White Oak Creek delivers. We saw everything from professional bass fishermen to families swimming and enjoying the water. Many campers keep their small watercraft tethered right at their campsites for easy access.

During our stay, we witnessed beautiful sunsets over the water and enjoyed peaceful mornings listening to the gentle lapping of waves against the shore. It’s the kind of tranquility that’s hard to put a price on.

• It’s not near major attractions or cities (which we considered a plus!)
• Weekend reservations can be difficult to secure during peak season
